MAG America’s Communications Intern helps build awareness of International Humanitarian Mine Action issues and MAG’s brand among the public through traditional publications and the Internet. This position offers the opportunity to gain entry-level experience in digital and published Communications through a variety of platforms, while learning the ins and outs of non-profit messaging. This position is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to break into the non-profit, international development, or communications sectors.
Work closely with MAG America and international staff to develop timely and relevant content for MAG America’s web site, Facebook page, Twitter and promotional materials. In addition to online strategy, assist with other communications, including newsletter development and distribution, donor communications—both online and printed, mailings and special events.
Work within online system to write and edit copy for MAG America’s mass emails
Design graphic and visual content for MAG America’s outreach platforms
Assist with light web maintenance and updates
Printed newsletter development and design
Assist with writing and editing mass mailings, e-mails, and letters to donors and supporters
Assist with public fundraising events
Other content creation and tasks as needed

Legally authorized to work in the United States
Completed a degree in Marketing, Journalism, or Communications within the last two (2) years
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
Experience creating content for and publishing on social media, specifically Facebook
Proficient with a content management system (CMS)
Familiarity with an email database system like Blackbaud NetCommunity preferred
Website management and editing experience
Experience with Google Analytics preferred
Strong writing skills
Ability to work in a professional environment
Strong organizational skills. Enthusiastic, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach to work
Ability to work within a team as well as independently with minimal supervision
Ability to follow written instructions
