Position Description: Associate Director, Advancement
The Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), a national higher education organization dedicated to the advancement of graduate education and research, is seeking an Associate Director of Advancement. This newly-created position requires at least five years of experience with development or fundraising, particularly with the corporate sector. The Associate Director, Advancement will work closely with the Director of Best Practices and Advancement and the Senior Director, Meetings to increase external funding for CGS through sponsorships, corporate memberships, and corporate foundation grants.
Assist in the development of strategic priorities for the Advancement area consistent with the CGS mission and overall strategic plan
Help CGS develop positive and mutually beneficial relationships with the private sector; develop messages that communicate the value of these relationships
Serve as a staff liaison of the Advancement Advisory Committee
Manage the corporate membership program
Maintain detailed records on the status of outreach efforts and track funds generated
Conduct prospect research and assist with follow-up
Assist in grant-writing and the development of briefing papers for foundation visits
Manage the corporate sponsorship program for the Annual Meeting
Develop content and sponsorship information for the Annual Meeting prospectus
Assist in the development and implementation of a marketing plan for the Annual Meeting
Serve as a contact for exhibitors, helping to recruit new exhibiting prospects and ensuring they have a positive experience at the CGS Annual Meeting
Support CGS’s programmatic activities as requested
