The Development Manager is responsible for managing the communications and marketing elements of Foundation activities in coordination with branding and promotion guidelines set by AMGA publications and public relations departments. This also includes special events used in fundraising and awareness campaigns, annual and end-of-the-year campaigns, capital campaigns, and other events or campaigns as needed.

Newsletters: Manage or coordinate all phases of publishing of Foundation-specific newsletters and publications: Inside AMGA (monthly), Group Practice Journal (monthly), Board Update (monthly), Foundation Connector (bi-monthly), and CCR Roundup (monthly) and other publications as necessary
Promotional & Print Materials: Oversee materials development for all Foundation-wide collateral, including one-pagers, brochures, slide decks, the Foundation’s portion of the AMGA annual report to members, and other publications as necessary
Branding: Ensure consistency in implementation of new branding and brand voice set forth by AMGA
Corporate Relations: interact and communicate with corporate partners and prospects, mainly through the Chronic Care Roundtable
Public Relations: Serve as primary liaison between the PR department and the Foundation and serve on Integrated Communications Committee. Draft Foundation-specific press releases, media notes, speeches and other materials as needed.
Fundraising Appeals: draft year-end email and letter campaigns to groups and individuals for annual campaign
#GivingTuesday: create and execute communications plan for #GivingTuesday, sending emails and creating and disseminating social media content
Manage and distribute marketing email campaigns for the Foundation for these target markets – groups, individuals and corporations under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Donor Relations and Senior Director
Social Media & Web: Increase the presence of AMGA Foundation on AMGA’s social media by developing original graphics and content and encouraging cross-collaboration across communications vehicles for AMGA and the Foundation. Contribute to social media content calendar efforts. Manage AMGA Foundation website and online presence. Track web analytics.
Videos: Grow the Foundation’s ability to incorporate video into email marketing, website, and social media; serve on AMGA’s “video team”
Event preparation and management
Chronic Care Roundtable: Help expand the mission of CCR to meet our Foundation-wide strategic needs. Plan and execute quarterly webinars and manage annual in-person meeting and other CCR meetings as necessary and assisted by Foundation Coordinator.
Board meetings: logistics and putting together board materials
Silent Auction: Manage the Silent Auction and supervise Foundation Coordinator’s work on the annual event.
Donor Reception: Assist with the programming, promotion and onsite preparations for our Donor Reception at Annual Conference
Other: as created or jointly with other organizations
Understand iMIS database and fundraising module
Enter gifts and pledges
Run reports, thank you letters and emails
Other duties as assigned
Development skills and experience
Communication skills, written and oral – writing articles, letters, newsletters, web copy, email copy and other as appropriate; making presentations as needed
Social Media – ability to manipulate social media vehicles and incorporate into overall communications strategy
Marketing skills – developing strategies and segmenting skills to reach donors and prospects to increase donations, encourage first-time donors and repeat donors
Event planning skills – managing special fundraising and awareness events at the annual conference, CCR and other meetings.
Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills to work as part of a team on a multitude of projects and to train and supervise a half-time development coordinator
Database skills – be able to access, update, enter data, run reports, thank you letters and emails in iMIS or other database in use by AMGA or the Foundation
College degree required or comparable experience; 3-5 years experience in fundraising and development
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time except when managing events which will include substantial walking in convention centers and hotels. Less than 10% travel to events.
