Bethesda Lutheran Communities is looking for a Major Gifts Officer to add to our team on the East Coast! This is a remote position!
A Major Gifts Officer is responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift prospects, as well as identifying new prospects. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organization's mission is key.
What you'll be doing:
Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization.
Be a frontline fundraiser managing a personal portfolio of 150 donors with gift solicitations of $50,000 to $1M range.
Utilize software and systems to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
Work jointly with the VP of Philanthropy and the Development team to align efforts and set goals
Create and implement Donor Journey plans
Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, cultivation and stewardship visits and touches
Work collaboratively with BLC Executive Leadership Team and BLC Board on major gift opportunities
Help each team member with portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and donor communications
Acknowledge donors through public and private recognition
Track and report progress using specific metrics and tools

What we want to see from you:
Education and/or Experience:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Master's preferred.
Seven to 10 years experience in development/fundraising or equivalent experience in finance, public relations or business background required with proven ability to raise current and deferred major gifts required
A passion and talent for building and maintaining authentic relationships.
A strong and demonstrable skill set in efficiently planning, organizing, coordinating and directing interactions with donors across a geographic territory.
A mindset of innovative fundraiser who is curious, creative and resourceful.
An ability to keep matters confidential and to demonstrate honesty, loyalty and respect.
The ability to influence and motivate others while working in a consultative, diverse, inclusive and ever-changing environment.
Fluency in digital systems and platforms with a comfort level with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge, Microsoft software suite, internet applications, social media, etc.
Experience working with a variety of planned giving instruments, including charitable gift annuities and trusts preferred.
Certificates, Licenses or Registrations:
Must have a valid driver's license
Up to 50% overnight travel required for this position
Must have ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to work irregular hours as needed
Must be able to travel by car and air
