SOS Children's Villages is seeking an Associate Director of Digital Marketing to support our digital fundraising activities. The position is located in Washington, DC. SOS-USA is developing a five-year plan to increase funds raised in the US to support SOS programs worldwide. We believe that digital fundraising has tremendous potential to support rapid growth of SOS-USA over the next several years. This is a crucial role to SOS-USA (and SOS global operations) in our efforts to expand our digital footprint and support SOS Children Village's revenue growth. This position will be responsible for the development of our Digital Marketing strategy, Social Media, and Online Audience development. The Associate Director, Digital Marketing will work to achieve the objectives of the Marketing program to 1) raise funds, 2) engage and retain audiences and 3) expand reach through strategic donor list growth. The position is responsible for strategy development, set-up, maintenance, and monitoring of digital fundraising and online systems that drive the mission and goals of the organization.
This position will manage our website as well as develop and execute an ongoing optimization strategy that includes strategic content development and a focus on SEO to improve search rankings. Particular focus on top of funnel content to attract and engage new audiences. The role will also be responsible for working collaboratively with colleagues to develop the content for our growing email program. This position supports the digital efforts of other departments in the organization and reports to the Director of Individual Giving and works in close collaboration with the Vice President of Philanthropy, Affiliates and team members in the US, the International headquarters in Austria, and SOS member associations in other countries.
Contribute to global digital strategy and guidelines to ensure consistent brand experience in digital channels in collaboration with key stakeholders from the US, Austria, and other SOS offices.
Lead optimization projects, specifically identifying innovative SEO strategies and performing SEO-related review and optimizations based on analytics and results.
Develop successful email marketing strategy and perform email-marketing tasks including, but not limited to: scheduling, HTML set-up, e-mail blasts, list clean-ups, subscription management, marketing automation set-up and monitoring, and collaborating with colleagues on content creation.
Work with the Vice President of Philanthropy on optimization strategies to increase awareness and effectiveness of fundraising campaigns.
Administer online fundraising tools (Engaging Networks) to create, edit, and improve donation forms related to online fundraising efforts for the organization.
Lead efforts to maintain and further develop the current website through data informed strategy, managing cross-functional internal teams and agencies to create a best-in-class web experience.
Content and Campaign Development
Oversee the creation of best in class engaging content marketing across digital properties while consistently maintaining standards and guidelines of SOS's brand.
Formulate and execute A/B, multivariate test experiments on digital channels.
Support management of editorial calendar and ensure that communications initiatives align with Marketing, Fundraising, and Programming objectives.
Perform content maintenance and publish content to various digital channels including, but not exclusive to website, microsites, email campaigns, and blog(s).
Maintain a strong relationship with consultants, IT providers, software partners, and other vendor partners.
Recommend technology or processes to further organize, automate, and measure behaviors, and activities (e.g. email marketing platforms, analytic tools, guidelines, etc.).
Analytics and Insight
Monitor and report on statistics and analytics in website, microsites, email analytics, and monitoring programs to improve user experience and optimize properties using organization's various platforms and tools.
Collaborate with the Manager, Fundraising Data and Analytics to develop complex email segments and ensure sync with online fundraising tool (Engaging Networks) and CRM database (ROI) to pass transactional and constituent data in reliable format.
Perform other duties as assigned.
At least 7 years of digital fundraising/sales and web-related maintenance, SEO, technical support experience.
Strong, successful track-record in the development and implementation of major digital initiatives, and a proven track record with metrics-based marketing campaigns on digital platforms.
Experience optimizing, growing and managing email programs.
Experience leading paid media campaigns including planning, audience targeting, creative development, testing and analysis.
Excellent presentation skills using PowerPoint, Excel, and Word a must.
Must be hyper-enthusiastic about ever-evolving social media trends and the digital landscape.
Deep knowledge of WCMS, email marketing and web analytic tools such as Google and Adobe Analytics. Knowledge of Engaging Networks and Kentico is a plus.
Familiar with UX ad design and landing page best practices.
Experience in managing ICT projects and sound understanding of interfaces and interaction between different ICT systems (WCMS, CRM, E-mail, etc.).
Strong project management experience, including working with stakeholders across teams to assess needs, recommend strategies, set goals and establish and meet deadlines.
Self-starter with ability to operate at a hands-on, detailed level, taking the lead on complicated projects and anticipating strategies through to the end.
